Description

smell aniseed, flesh yellow in KOH. Material dried yellow, lamellae without efflorescence. Cheilocystidia absent. Spores thick-walled, no pore, length=6.6–7.4µm (µ=6.9, σ=0.23), width=4.0–5.1µm (µ=4.5, σ=0.31), Q=1.4–1.7µm (µ=1.54, σ=0.10), n=20. The poor sequence of the type of A. bambusae var. australis matches this specimen (with an ML analysis). However Heinemann's description includes catenate cystidia and thin-wallled spores? Possibility of a specimen mix-up by Heinemann. Phylogenetically very close to A. subantarcticus
