Description

Lourensford sweety worm reared

13 January 2019:

I was very pleased to spot this never-before-reared jellybaby of a caterpillar in spite of its quite effective camouflage - I often struggle to find it now in its tub. It is eating very well and can move surprisingly fast when I softely prod it with my little caterpillar-brush. Gathering more food plant might be a small challenge, but we'll see what I can rustle up on our local slopes this afternoon.

20 January 2019:

The caterpillar cocooned between a few leaves of its food plant. When I later tried to sneak a peek it turned out that the cocoon was far too tough for my rusty old blade and I soon gave up and left it in peace.

5 February 2019:

A beautiful, tiny moth emerged. It is my favourite moth so far.
