This is the Amami Thrush that is treated as a full species (Zoothera major) by some authorities, rather than included in the White's Thrush complex. We saw this individual early in the morning (at daybreak) as it foraged on the road. Another was singing nearby - the song is musical and quite unlike the single high-pitched tones of White's Thrush.
