Description
White Rock lake, Reinhart branch
Photo 1:
She's Purty!
She is one of the prettiest river cooters I've run across. She likes to bask on a particular log and stands her ground when someone walks by across the creek from her. She has an air of confidence and maturity.
Photo 2:
River Cooter Face Shot
Portrait of one of the pretty river cooters I find basking on logs. Interesting fact: River Cooters can hibernate in mud underwater during cold weather for up to 2 months. They get their oxygen from the water via their butts (an opening called the cloaca).
