Smooth barked tree growing to about 10 m on granite outcrops and understorey of heathy open woodland. Common name Orange Gum for new bark. Old bark in patches of grey, pink, yellow. Source of carbs from sap for birds and animals. Flowers profusely and sporadically about every 5-7 years attracting large numbers of flying foxes and nectar eating birds and animals. Some flowers in intervening years, but most buds usually fall off. May be a climate adaptation.
