Looky looky a rare(ish) moss. I did an ONAPA stewardship activity (fixing a boardwalk and pulling butterweed) at Fowler woods in Richland County (Ohio) and there on a little mound of soil at the base of a windthrown sapling, with the usual Atrichum angustatum, was Ditrichum pallidum, Physcomitrium pyriforme (all of which are visible in the photo) and this little beauty only known from a few Ohio counties âTrematodon longicollis! Unfortunately, this being a State Nature Preserve, and me feeling oddly law-abiding, there is no specimen. Boo.
