Day Three - ANOTHER GREAT DAY!

You've outdone yourselves, NYC. We started out in 6th place for observations this morning, but pulled back up to 4th place because we added over 5000 OBSERVATIONS today! We have one more day to go and I think we can get all of our numbers up! Our top observer, @danielatha, will be leading walks all day in Fort Washington and Inwood Hill Parks. For details, visit: https://www.inaturalist.org/posts/15799-nyc-city-nature-challenge-monday-events

Fun fact: Not one of us has observed a rat in NYC yet. I've been looking every time I get on the subway, but I haven't spotted one.

As always, put your day's highlights in the comments.

Today, I took the family down to Far Rockaway so I could get some Crustacean action. Found some barnacles: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/11823677

I came into the city for the Challenge on Saturday, and didn't expect to come back. But this afternoon I had three hours free, and realized that Staten Island is only a 30 minute drive from my house. So I went and ended up at Conference House Park. I found loads of interesting marine species on the beach, which @susanhewitt has helped me ID. On the way home a turkey crossed the road, causing a little traffic jam, and I eagerly got a photo, thinking, how many people are going to post turkeys in New York City? The answer, apparently, is three. Who knew there were so many of them out there?

Hi @srall! I'm so glad you made it into the city for this! You have contributed quite a lot to our efforts! I see those Staten Island turkeys when I go visit the College of Staten Island.
