iNaturalist helping with my ID (as promised). Kinglets and Starlings

Today I learned 2 things about ID on birds that pretty often show up in my eBird lists.

kinglet: the difference between ruby-crowned and golden-crowned is straight forward when it is pointed out (and when the birds aren't flaring their crown). Ruby-crowned have a complete white eye ring around black eyes and the golden-crowned has white stripes--bigger stripe over the eye.

starling: adult nonbreeding do have blackish bills not yellow.

This information is from Cornell's All About birds. I am on there all the time, but iNaturalist id helped me zoom in and be more accountable for IDs.
