Hi folks,

I've included you here in case you don't have the electronic Erica 'aid' by Ted and Inge Oliver and Nigel Forshaw. I have written permission from Nigel and verbal permission from Ted to freely distribute it. You can download it here, in the form of an ISO file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/159VbmC8_gReR4x3NIQvJJBp_QjbPk6Vr/view?usp=sharing.

For those unfamiliar with ISO files, it's basically a virtual copy of the original CD. You can run it as if it's a CD, but instead of double-clicking it, you right click and select 'Mount'. It'll then show up as if you'd put a CD in (i.e. in My Computer). You can then run 'start' follow the installation instructions. It needs to install several programs.

I have no idea if it's compatible with Mac. It runs fine on my Windows 10 Home edition.

It uses Microsoft Access 2003-2007, but it shouldn't be a problem if you already have a newer version of Access installed (which was my case). In that case you need to open the program with Access 2003-2007. (Right-click > Open With).

Unfortunately the GIS software used for viewing distribution data is not compatible with current versions of Java, and using the older version included is not recommended, so that part of the program doesn't work. If you do install the old Java version included with the app, you are better off updating it again, else it's a security risk.

Please feel free to let other potentially interested folks know about this. If you have any trouble installing it, send me a message on iNat and I'll try to help :)

All the best,
S

Hi Seth I have used the IDCD since for ever and works well even when I have changed PC or Windows. Basically the two are exactly the same?
As in i don't need to change? But yay as now perhaps more peeps will realise what all one needs to ID from a photo. ie more photos ; )

Brilliant. Thanks, Seth.
(I currently have v3.00, auspiciously dated 1 April 2012, on my machine. Is this the same version?)
