Oreocarya thompsonii is a serpentine endemic of Wenatchee Mountains. There are many similar species much further south and west, but in the Wenatchees there is nothing else similar. These are small perennial herbs with a basal rosette of lance shaped wooly leaves with a border of longer hairs. The inflorescence arises basally and projects well above the leaf rosette. It has additional clasping leaves and a cluster of rather small white flowers with 5 petals and a yellow center. The infloresence is heavily covered with long needle-like white to translucent trichomes (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/129554175), which look very nasty but don't feel prickly or seem to irritate human skin (or at least my skin).
