Based on the anatomy of the tail, Alcelaphus cokii (https://www.alamy.com/red-hartebeest-alcelaphus-buselaphus-droppings-masai-mara-game-reserve-image61099055.html and https://www.agefotostock.com/age/en/details-photo/bubal-hartebeest-alcelaphus-buselaphus-serengeti-nationalpark-tanzania-africa-adult/JHS-DS02717) is clearly a different species from Alcelaphus caama (https://stock.adobe.com/au/search?filters%5Bcontent_type%3Aphoto%5D=1&filters%5Bcontent_type%3Aillustration%5D=1&filters%5Bcontent_type%3Azip_vector%5D=1&filters%5Bcontent_type%3Avideo%5D=1&filters%5Bcontent_type%3Atemplate%5D=1&filters%5Bcontent_type%3A3d%5D=1&filters%5Bcontent_type%3Aaudio%5D=0&filters%5Binclude_stock_enterprise%5D=0&filters%5Bis_editorial%5D=0&filters%5Bfree_collection%5D=0&filters%5Bcontent_type%3Aimage%5D=1&k=%22red+hartebeest%22&order=relevance&safe_search=1&limit=100&search_page=5&search_type=pagination&get_facets=0&asset_id=157197868 and https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/buttocks-tail-red-hartebeest-581576641 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJF90jV-T0A).

However, the tail of swaynei resembles that of cokii.

The following mature male individual, in posteriolateral view, shows maximal darkening of the whole anterior surface of the face:

Mature female with long horns, showing particularly clearly the colouration in the upper forelegs:

Mature male with long horns:

The following, of two adult males, shows particularly the pattern on the posterior surface of the upper foreleg:

https://www.alamy.com/swaynes-hartebeest-antelope-in-senkelle-sanctuary-ethiopia-africa-wildlife-image387665936.html?imageid=F38BFF5F-B427-4F6B-8F36-41F6B25C6790&p=87725&pn=1&searchId=966b20bd432083e81745930eae490c7c&searchtype=0

The following show mature male individuals of 'stunted' body size (judging from the proportional size of the head), weighing perhaps only 100 kg. The horns, in most individuals, seem identical in shape and size to those of A. cokii.

(Compare the above with the following of mature male A. caama, which shows the body and head proportions of an animal weighing about 150 kg: https://www.dreamstime.com/stock-image-hartebeest-red-african-wildlife-shining-horn-bull-prime-posing-camera-photo-taken-game-ranch-namibia-africa-image31174991)
