One more thing - before class wraps up, I just wanted to remind everyone of the rules to get credit for observations in class assignments (except for a few exceptions like the Botany homework where I said planted observations were OK). Your observations must:
1) be wild/naturalized
2) be identified to some taxon (can be coarse, Kingdom etc.)
3) have photo(s)
4) be georeferenced and be accurate to at least 1km
5) have a date
6) be in the Geo171 project - to quickly add these go to your observations and click 'Batch Edit', Select All, Add to Project
If your observations don't meet these criteria - its not too late to fix them!

Pillar Point Fieldtrip on Thursday

If you can come meet at the West Circle by the Eucalyptus tree at 11am. Leave a comment here if you plan on coming so we know who to look for and indicate if you are a driver.

I'll meet you guys at Pillar Point since I'm coming from SF unless we need more drivers. We'll plan to meet in the parking lot (map below) at noon, but if you get delayed and want to head to the tidepools follow the path from the parkinglot which curves around the base of the cliff to the right to the big rocky tidepool area. Call me 415-278-1220 if you get lost.

Pepperwood Fieldtrip report

Thanks to everyone who came to Pepperwood today - I really enjoyed the hike! Here's a link to what we saw.

It was a bit dry for newts but Beatriz found this one under a log - we found others breeding in a pond.

We took a shortcut Michael the Preserve manager told us about to cut some distance off our 6-mile loop. Here we are crossing Redwood Creek.
