This past weekend, the Blanco County project reached a milestone by eclipsing 2000 species. Observations have also passed 12,500 by 39 contributors, including 1,131 from iNaturalist curator and legend Greg Lasley, who passed away in January 2021. I would like to extend my appreciation to all the Observers and Identifiers who have contributed. Without you, this milestone and the valuable information it provides researchers would not be possible. Looking forward to seeing what other species are found in Blanco County and thank you in advance for all the future contributions to this project.

Just short of 6 years from the start of this project, those observations have identified 1,738 species within the county. Mr. Greg Lasley, an iNaturalist legend, passed away this evening. he had a double lung transplant several months ago but lost his recovery battle. With nearly 40,000 observations to iNaturalist, including over 1100 to the Blanco County Project, he will be greatly missed by the naturalist community. Rest in Peace, Greg.
