Welcome!

Thank you for visiting Seattle's iNaturalist page for the City Nature Challenge. Please feel free to contact me with questions.

There will be a launch event on April 13th at 7pm at Machine House Brewery in Georgetown. I will provide handouts on using iNaturalist and have a laptop set up for those who would like to make an account then.

Please spread the word of the City Nature Challenge and feel free to create your own events or walks!

Hi,

I've uploaded a photo to Inaturalist but it doesn't show on your page here. What do I do to "join?"

Sometimes it takes a while for observations to show up. All observations made in the area during the bioblitz time period will be automatically aggregated here.

Thanks so much. I don't see anywhere whether you wish for bioblitz observations to be limited to "wild" life or whether it can include domestic plants or animals.

I don't know that there's any hard and fast rule about what to include. I think it'd be more beneficial to limit observations to wild life, but sometimes that line is very blurry. As far as I'm concerned any observations count.

When you make observations, you can check the captive/cultivated option to make it clear.
