This project is meant to document wildlife in suburbia (including introduced species, but not feral domesticated animals - with the exception of rock doves).

To offer the most potential utility to researchers, it is limited to the Coastal Plain Region in Virginia. Please make sure your observation occurs in Virginia.

A suburban environment includes mostly single-family houses with defined yards of an acre or less, typically mowed lawns, artificial landscaping, and roads. Apartment complexes and condos with maintained grounds in surburban areas are good, too. In the spirit of the project, don't include observations in suburban parks with wild areas, or in undeveloped areas. There is another project for urban wildlife.

Do include insects, aquatic life in backyard ponds or streams/ditches, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, etc. Birdfeeder watchers, this one's for you. :) Definitely include common and introduced species.
