Mountain Goat Molt Project - Add Your Photos

Imagine that you have put your winter coat away early and can't find it during a sudden onset of spring frost or that you cannot take that insulated coat off in the first place and overheat.

We are collecting photographs of mountain goats across time and space to evaluate their winter coat shedding in relation to climate change. Photographs can be from anywhere across mountain goat range, native or introduced, and older photographs scanned from slides or film are especially welcome. Accurate and precise date and location information are crucial.

In addition to this space on iNaturalist, we are accepting photo submissions via our CitSci project web portal (where photos will be publicly visible and under a creative commons license):

We are asking that iNaturalists please add their photos to our CitSci web portal to express their permission to participate in this project, and/or add their observations to this project here on iNat. You may also message me (@katzyna) to express permission, and I may be in contact with you if your photos have already caught my eye!

A list of all photo contributors will be included in our project outputs.

We hope that you participate to help us understand how mountain goats are responding to climatic warming.
