Geographic Range

This species is known from elevations of between 3,850-4,100 m asl approximately 8 and 14 km southwest (airline) of the village of Paucartambo, Pasco Region, Peru, at La Victoria and Laguna Manchay in Pasco Region, Peru (Lehr et al. 2005).

Population

It is known only from the specimens found at its type locality (Lehr et al. 2005). In 2001-2002 four individuals were observed over the course of four person/days (von May et al. 2008). No new surveys have been conducted in the type locality or surrounding area (E. Lehr pers. comm. March 2013).

Habitat

It inhabits high-altitude puna grassland, where individuals have been found on moist ground beneath stones. This species is presumed to breed by direct development.

Threats

The Paucartambo Valley has high human impact and habitats are generally under threat from agriculture (Lehr et al. 2005), cattle breeding and pollution (E. Lehr pers. comm. March 2013). It is not known to what extent these threats are impacting on this species and its habitats.

Conservation Actions

It is not currently known from any protected areas, although the Reserva Nacional de Junín is near La Victoria. Further research is needed to ascertain its ecological requirements, population status and trends as well as threats which may affect this species.
