Heads up: Some or all of the identifications affected by this split may have been replaced with identifications of Taenioptynx. This happens when we can't automatically assign an identification to one of the output taxa. Review identifications of Glaucidium brodiei 19860

Hi Scott, thanks for updating this. However, as per the 2019 paper splitting G. brodiei and G. sylvaticus, the authors grouped the Bornean populations with the latter species. Therefore, should these not be T. sylvaticus? Apologies if I'm missing something here. Would it be better for me to manually change the IDs of the Bornean observations (I think there are only 4) or can this be done automatically as part of the taxon split and species range map? Thanks.

Sorry, I was using the Owl Pages, and they only show the sunda owlet in Sumatra (https://www.owlpages.com/owls/species.php?s=1885). However, I do (now) see that ebird has included Borneo in the sunda owlet's range (https://ebird.org/species/colowl3). @chartuso Can you confirm that the sunda owlet's range includes Borneo?

Yes, Sunda Owlet (Taenioptynx sylvaticus) is on Borneo and Sumatra (see: https://ebird.org/species/colowl3) and Collared Owlet (Taenioptynx brodiei) is from the Southeast Asian mainland (see: https://ebird.org/species/colowl1/). Biogeogrpahically speaking, is is not uncommon for Greater Sundaic species to be on both Borneo and Sumatra; however, many recent splits have separated the Bornean and Sumatran sister species.
