Whether your visit to the Kaibab National Forest takes you north or south of the Grand Canyon, you may encounter a wide variety of amphibians, reptiles and fish. As part of the Colorado Plateau ecosystem adjacent to the Grand Canyon, the Kaibab National Forest is uniquely situated and provides a diversity of habitat types. From desert scrub of Snake Gulch to the spruce-fir lined parts of the high elevation North Kaibab Plateau. The South Kaibab Ranger District includes coniferous forests and woodlands, chaparral, and grasslands. The Mogollon Rim, which extends from New Mexico into north central Arizona, ends on the Williams Ranger District. There are natural and constructed water catchments throughout the Forest. Fish may be found in many of these tanks. Amphibians may also be found near tanks, since amphibians depend on aquatic habitat for at least part of their life cycle.
Check with Arizona Game and Fish Department for statewide fishing regulations.
