Common Snapping Turtle (Chelydra serpentina)

Description

Snapping turtle was observed as it was crossing the road. An oncoming vehicle stopped for the turtle and it turned at the mid road area and returned to the roadside. Serrations on the posterior carapace were nicely seen as it walked as well as the pointed snout. It returned to the marsh uninjured. I am not sure of the age of this turtle and whether it is a male or a female.
