This journal entry is an ongoing update to the SASKATCHEWAN and MANITOBA portion of the 2018 Canada-AK checklist. As far as I know this covers all new records to the end of 2025. After leading the publication of that 2018 checklist, my goal had been to publish regular updates, but the torrent of incoming new information has been overwhelming, and a formal publication proved to be impractical as it would be out of date before it became available. Instead, I’ve decided to produce informal updates here as journal entries on my iNaturalist account, where they are readily available and easily modified. I will deal here only with western Canada and the northern territories. I encourage others with more local knowledge to compile similar lists for eastern Canada.
I’ve compiled records as I’m able, but I’m woefully behind extracting and verifying data from iNaturalist and BOLD. If you are aware of errors, earlier records than I have listed below, or new records that I have missed, please let me know in the comments, or send them to me via message to my iNaturalist account.

INTRODUCTION:

The Pohl et al. (2018) annotated checklist of the Lepidoptera of Canada and Alaska is available as a free download here:

After leading the publication of that 2018 checklist, my goal had been to publish regular updates, but the torrent of incoming new information has been overwhelming, and a formal publication proved to be impractical as it would be out of date before it became available. Instead, I’ve decided to produce informal updates here as journal entries on my iNaturalist account, where they are readily available and easily modified. I will deal here only with western Canada and the northern territories. I encourage others with more local knowledge to compile similar lists for eastern Canada.
I’ve compiled records as I’m able, but I’m woefully behind extracting and verifying data from iNaturalist and BOLD. If you are aware of errors, earlier records than I have listed below, or new records that I have missed, please let me know in the comments, or send them to me via message to my iNaturalist account.

INTRODUCTION:

After leading the publication of that 2018 checklist, my goal had been to publish regular updates, but the torrent of incoming new information has been overwhelming, and a formal publication proved to be impractical as it would be out of date before it became available. Instead, I’ve decided to produce informal updates here as journal entries on my iNaturalist account, where they are readily available and easily modified. I will deal here only with western Canada and the northern territories. I encourage others with more local knowledge to compile similar lists for eastern Canada.
I’ve compiled records as I’m able, but I’m woefully behind extracting and verifying data from iNaturalist and BOLD. If you are aware of errors, earlier records than I have listed below, or new records that I have missed, please let me know in the comments, or send them to me via message to my iNaturalist account.
