I have broad interests in the fields of biology and ecology. All of my formal work experiences have occurred in the central and south-central United States. I worked a 7-year stint as a Rangeland Specialist in the western-edge of the central plains (transition zone of the Nebraska sandhills and the short grass prairie of north-eastern Colorado), but since 2007 I have worked as a Private Lands Wildlife Biologist with the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. Many of my day-to-day observations of wildlife (life) occur on private lands and remain due to confidentiality agreements as conversations between me and the landowner. My postings here are a sampling of the following:

a) roadside observations during my daily travels,
b) incidental observations from my "average daily home range" which includes several public green spaces,
c) observations from my home landscape, which I have worked to convert to local, native plant species specifically beneficial for native pollinators,
d) occasional outings about the region.

I am an avid birder and have a fascination with grasses. I play soccer whenever I can. My M.S. work had me on the ground looking at leaves, ligules, and glumes, but also included stable isotopes. I am a proponent of hats and sunscreen. My favorite food consists of caldo de pollo.
