Currently I am the Vallier Treehaven Resident Ecologist at UW- Stevens Point's Treehaven field station in Tomahawk, WI. I teach classes in plant identification, forestry and fire ecology. I have a PhD in natural resource science and management from the University of Minnesota, my dissertation focused on the effects of fire and wind disturbance on the forests of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Northern MN. Previously I worked for the Pacific Southwest Research Station of the USFS in the Sierra Nevada of CA where I spent several seasons working on a variety of forest ecology related research projects.

I am particularly interested in the the flora of the Upper Great Lakes Region and am always trying to improve my skills in plant id. I also enjoy finding mushrooms and fly fishing.
