After years of teaching young children, I retired from full-time teaching in 2017. My husband (also newly retired) and I had already decided to become Texas Master Naturalists. I wanted to join because I love learning, and love sharing nature with children. My husband, whose degree in forestry had been on hold while he pursued a career in business, wanted to get back to his first loves of forestry and natural science. We joined the 2018 class of the Blackland Prairie chapter, and that's been wonderful! We've gotten to know a great group of people there, and of course, learned all kinds of fascinating things. If all that wasn't enough, that's also where we were introduced to iNaturalist. We tentatively tried it out, seeing how it worked, in preparation for the upcoming City Nature Challenge bioblitz. The more we used it, the more we liked it, and within a few weeks, we were both hooked!
