Spotted it crossing the road and stopped for a look. Smaller individual, with relatively lightish fur. Didn't notice at all at the time but there's some nice trumpet-shaped lichen on the log in the lower right.

All Tasmanian echidnas are called subspecies Tachyglossus aculeatus setosus.
