Plant was not in flower but was identified based on form of inflorescence at the base of the plant on a separate leafless shoot. The bracts are non-appendaged but acutely triangular at the apex. The plant is mostly glabrous with a bright red underside to the leaves in contrast to the darker purple color of C. amazonicus ssp. krukovii found in the same region, growing also on terra firma.. Only this one plant was seen. It is similar to C. acreanus I have seen in Peru.
