Description

This is the green bracted form of Costus spiralis that I have seen in central and southern Peru, that is believed to be the form of the holotype by Ruiz of what he named as Costus laevis. See http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/4620871 for further information. Only this one plant was seen in this region.

UPDATE 3-June-2020
As part of the revision to new world Costus, this may be reclassified to C. weberbaueri Loes. which is currently a syn. of C. laevis Ruiz & Pavon.
