This is the green bracted form of Costus spiralis that I have seen in central and southern Peru, that is believed to be the form of the holotype by Ruiz of what he named as Costus laevis. As part of the revision to new world Costus, this may be reclassified to C. weberbaueri Loes. which is currently a syn. of C. laevis Ruiz & Pavon.
