Another note -- the Texas Parks and Wildlife DFW urban wildlife has an intern this summer (June - August), and we'll be planning some all day bioblitz/surveys in Duncanville at the Ladd Land and in Frisco at Grand Park. These will likely be during the weekday and probably like a 9 AM to 3 PM thing. Stay tuned for details on this.

Thanks for putting this together and posting it, Sam! I've already been hearing some whispers of excitement about the upcoming moth nights!

@sambiology Thanks, Sam!

I'll plan on being at all the weekend events. I'll let you know if I can't make it. Yay!

Posted by k8thegr8 12 months ago

Got them added to my calendar. The only one I know I can’t make it to will be the June 25th bio blitz at Ladd Land.

Looks fun! Hopefully can come to something but I might be working.

Awesome thanks for sharing. I want to talk to you at some point about how to "geofence" Northaven Trail in Dallas so that we can start bioblitzing on it. Northaven Trail is 8 miles long and goes from Central Expressway almost to Harry Hines near Royal Lane.

@sambiology, are we going to do the pollinator bioblitz from June 19-25 this year (Xerces Society)? They creates an iNat group for it.

Posted by lulubelle 11 months ago

@lulubelle -- I'm not sure of any specific bioblitzes in DFW for the pollinator bioblitz in June -- but there is a Texas pollinator bioblitz in October!

@sambiology I'd love to come to the June 20 mothing event at Green Acres...Will there be room to park?

Posted by karen762 11 months ago

Thanks for letting me know, @karen762 -- I've got you on the list! :) Yep, there will be limited parking, but you've got a spot!

Posted by sambiology 11 months ago

@sambiology I'll be at Green Acres mothing event on June 20th, too, Sam; looking forward to it!

Posted by kathrynwells333 11 months ago

I will be at the green acres mothing event as well!

Super! I've got ya'll on the list, @kathrynwells333 and @sam_moore_

Posted by sambiology 11 months ago

@sambiology When are you coming down to Benbrook for some bioblitzing and blacklighting? I might be able to go to the Granbury event which is the closest one to me. Maybe you can come down to Rocky Creek Park at the lake when the city of Fort Worth is closer to opening up their new park and coordinate with @mustardlypig?

Posted by observerjosh 11 months ago

Looks like we might be in for storms this evening at the Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve in Plano moth night. I'm hoping to come up for it but might stay in I get hit with storms - current chances are pretty high in my area.

Posted by scarletskylight 11 months ago

I'm going to try to make the one at the Bunker Center. Maybe the one the day after. But that's right before I leave for a family trip so kind of up in the air.

Most of the dates line up with work or family commitments for me right now though--just luck of the draw!

Sam, is there still room for 1 more car for tonight, at Flower Mound?! I want to come!

Posted by lulubelle 11 months ago

I think so! Come on and join us, Lulu! :)

If parking in the parking lot is an issue, then some roadside parking is ok too.

My son and I will be there!

Posted by lulubelle 11 months ago

Well, won't be there. Car was supposed to be ready to pick up after repairs today, but it's not ready.

Posted by lulubelle 11 months ago

@lulubelle We missed y'all! Look forward to meeting you next time. :-)

Posted by kathrynwells333 11 months ago

@kathrynwells333, I was so disappointed! You are among many I have been waiting to meet & bioblitz with!

Posted by lulubelle 11 months ago

@lulubelle We will look forward to next time. :-) Hope your car is ready today!

It was really great to put some faces with some iNat usernames last night! I've seen that copperhead show up a few times on iNat today and I added my own observation a few minutes ago. Wish I'd been able to stay longer but.....work.

@nancylovesbugs Here is the post!

If we're planning on coming tomorrow night to the blacklighting at Brookhaven do we need to do anything or just show up?

Posted by jblinde 10 months ago

Just show up! :) Nothing needed -- although, if you do have a battery powered set up, feel free to bring that. Not necessary though -- I'll have all 7 of my stations!

Posted by sambiology 10 months ago

do we need to preregister with the wetlands center if we're trying to make it?

Posted by williampaulwhite17 10 months ago

Oh, this reminds me to ask if there will be daytime surveys for Grand Park at Frisco coming up - count me in if I can work it into my schedule!

Posted by scarletskylight 10 months ago

Seconding the daytime surveys for Grand Park- I'd like to participate in that if I can fit it into my schedule.

Posted by jblinde 10 months ago

So, I don't know if there's a preregistration for John Bunker Sands -- I know it's $10 to attend unless you bring a black-light set-up and then you get in for free! :)

As for the Frisco Grand Park survey, our intern and I did a little day-time survey on one day, but it was brutally hot, so we didn't really announce it to the public... When it gets a touch cooler, we'll plan another one!
