Collaborators and Co-hosts

The Saskatoon and Area City Nature Challenge reflects some of the logos submitted to the CNC project by the Meewasin Valley Authority, Nature Conservancy of Canada, and Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (Saskatchewan Chapter) CPAWS. The Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas started out as hosts, and it is wonderful to place Saskatoon and area on the International scene with people throughout Saskatoon and area taking part in this citizen science City Nature Challenge April 29-May 2.

There are neighbouring towns, and villages coming on board in support of the Saskatoon and area CNC, as well as some amazing youth groups, green groups, schools additionally!

Thank you kindly to everyone who thinks our biodiversity and nature in Saskatoon and area is exciting, and great to document during the City Nature Challenge. We will continue to reach out to businesses, communities, and groups to let them know of this first ever exciting adventure for the City of Saskatoon and area!

It is as easy as 1-2-3!

The Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas Inc. think that the City of Saskatoon and the Meewasin Valley Authority had a great idea here in Saskatoon to compile a natural inventory database. You cannot protect what you do not know, and that is true for everywhere!

Remember to record through the iNaturalist app any living organism, plants, mushrooms, insects and wildlife observations. And we can use your help during the event and afterwards to help identify what was found. The Canadian City Nature Challenge hosts, CWF have created a guide to help you along the way.

Check back often to see how the City of Saskatoon and area is making out during the City Nature Challenge April 29-May 2, 2022. Identifications May 3-May 8 with the winner(s) of the three categories announced on May 9, 2022

BioSmart.Life

The Saskatoon Area City Nature Challenge is including all of our community's nature data from the apps included in the BioSMART network such as iNaturalist, eBird, QuestaGame and observation.org

Citizen scientists can use whichever app they are the most comfortable with for observations and they will be included in the CNC results.

We will be providing tutorials for iNaturalist, though you may ask questions about eBird.
