Commonly Observed Hemiptera Eggs

See also: Beetle EggsMoth EggsButterfly EggsThings Mistaken for Eggs

The eggs of many bug species look alike, and it's difficult to ID eggs just based on morphological similarity. Eggs may also change shape & color as the embryo develops inside, so a freshly laid egg will usually look different from one that's several hours or days old. For phytophagous groups it may help to know the plant on which the egg was laid, so you'll want to record the plant species whenever you can or even better make an observation for it. Other factors to note are the habitat, the part of the plant on which you found the egg(s), and whether they were laid singly or in clusters. The bugs recorded in the area and the time of year the eggs were observed may also be helpful in narrowing down an ID.
