Sewage Contaminates South County Beaches, Health Officials Issue Warning.

The Department of Environmental Health has issued a water contact closure for beaches at the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge and Border Field State Park due to sewage-contaminated flows from the Tijuana River entering the United States.

The closure area includes the ocean shoreline from the south end of Seacoast Drive in Imperial Beach to the International Border.

Endangered Butterfly, Mexican Shrub May Be Hurdles to Trump Wall.

Environmentalists suing to block President Donald Trump from constructing a wall along the Mexican border say the project would imperil endangered species including the Quino checkerspot butterfly and the Mexican flannel bush.
